Tekstieditorien kuningas BBEdit päivittyi versioon 8.0. Uutta on muun muassa usean dokumentin avaaminen samaan ikkunaan (jännää muuten, että nyt kun ihmisillä on paljon isommat ruudut kuin ennen, www-selaimet ja tekstieditorit ryhtyvät tiivistämään dokumentteja vähempään tilaan) ja paikallisen palvelimen käyttäminen dynaamisten www-sivujen esikatselussa. Ennestäänkin loistavaa monen tiedoston hakua on parannettu niin, että haun voi suorittaa useassa hakemistossa tai jopa usealla levyllä kerrallaan – ei siis pelkästään yhdessä hakemistossa ja sen alihakemistoissa. Text factory -toiminnon avulla voi luoda makroja, jotka tekevät tekstimuunnoksia tallennettavina sarjoina.

Yhdessä suhteessa BBEdit on kuitenkin mennyt huonompaan suuntaan. Uusi ikoni on aivan hirveä Comic Sans -versio vanhasta (vanhentuneesta) ikonista. Mutta ei hätää: Jon Hicks on tehnyt BBEditille korvaavan ikonin.
