Since its beginnings, Chimera/Camino has occupied a special place in the heart of OS X users. As a Cocoa port of the open source Mozilla project, Camino was at one point the most popular browser on OS X. — Apple’s decision to adopt KHTML and launch its own web browser changed the game almost overnight. Safari quickly became the most popular browser on the platform, and soon had web developers accounting for its existence when designing web pages. Meanwhile, Camino development slowed down to a virtual crawl.
