Adobe julkaisi Creative Suiten, johon kuuluu uudet versiot Photoshopista, Illustratorista, InDesignista ja GoLivesta. Ohjelmat ovat saatavilla myös erikseen ja kaikkien “versionumerona” on nyt “CS”. Eli sen sijaan, että Adobe olisi julkaissut version 8.0, uusi versio onkin Photoshop CS.

Uudet julkaisut ovat aiheuttaneet paljon kohua netissä. Tässä muutama poiminta:

Think Secret: Some pros criticize Adobe CS upgrades. “Some heavy-duty Photoshop users are calling the new version ‘7.5 at best,’ with one referring to it as a ‘half upgrade.’ A number of long-time Photoshop professionals are referring to Version 8 as ‘the marketing upgrade,’ as opposed to a ‘user’ or ‘professional’ upgrade.”

What Do I Know: Dead End Naming Conventions. “Taking a page from Macromedia’s ‘MX,’ Adobe’s products are now branded with ‘CS’ to (seemingly) tie them all together. While at least Adobe’s ‘CS’ acronym actually means something (compared to Macromedia, which freely admits ‘MX’ means nothing as was adopted because it ‘sounded cool’), the new naming scheme ruins a historical timeline in the graphic design industry.”
